The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) has officially announced the Preliminary Exam Date for the Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch & Armed Branch) recruitment. As per the latest notice, the WB Police SI Preliminary Exam 2024 will be conducted on 12th October 2025 (Sunday). Candidates who have applied can now start preparing in full swing for the exam.

The WB Police SI Preliminary Exam 2025, for recruitment to 2024 vacancies, will be held in a single shift on 12th October 2025. The exam will be conducted in various districts across West Bengal. Admit card and exam city details will be released soon on the official website: prb.wb.gov.in.

WB Police SI 2024 Revised Vacancy Details

As per Notice No. WBPRB/NOTICE – 2024/23 (SI_WBP_24), the vacancy position for Sub-Inspector (Unarmed & Armed Branch) posts has been revised. A total of 1131 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment drive for both male and female candidates.

Eligibility Recap for WB Police SI 2024

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2024):

  • Minimum: 20 years
  • Maximum: 30 years

Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC-A/B: 3 years
  • Transgender: 3 years
  • Departmental candidates (WBP): Up to 35 years (further relaxable)

Educational Qualification:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Language Requirement:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak Bengali.
    Exemption: Candidates from hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

WB Police SI Selection Process 2025

Candidates must clear the following stages to be selected:

  1. Preliminary Exam – Objective-type screening
  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  4. Final Combined Competitive Exam
  5. Personality Test (Interview)
  6. Medical Examination & Document Verification
