NHRC Winter Internship Eligibility Criteria 2025
The eligibility criteria are strict and specific. Candidates must ensure they meet all conditions.
Eligible Candidates: Students pursuing:
- 2nd or 3rd year of 3-year LL.B (after completing 1st year).
- 4th or 5th year of 5-year integrated law courses (after 3 years/Semester VI).
- LL.M Course.
- PG Diploma in Human Rights, MA in Human Rights, or PG degrees in Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations, and other Social Sciences (final year students preferred).
- Only students from UGC-recognized universities in regular courses are eligible.
Minimum Marks: Must have secured a minimum of 65% marks in Class XII and all subsequent semesters.
Age Limit: The applicant should not be more than 28 years old as on 1st October 2025.
Previous Internship: Students who have attended a regular one-month Winter/Summer Internship at NHRC before are not eligible.
NHRC WIP Selection Process and Merit
Selection is highly competitive and merit-based.
Intake: A maximum of 80 students will be selected.
Merit Calculation: Out of a total of 100 marks:
- Class XII Marks: 30 Marks
- Graduation Marks: 40 Marks
- 250-word Write-up/SOP: 30 Marks
- Reservation: Government of India norms for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories will apply.
NHRC Winter Internship Stipend, TA and Facilities
Selected interns are provided with comprehensive support:
Stipend: ₹12,000 (Rupees Twelve Thousand) upon successful completion.
Travel Allowance: Outstation interns will be reimbursed Sleeper AC 3 Tier train fare for travel to New Delhi and back via the shortest route.
Other Facilities:
- Temporary Identity Card, Kit/Bag.
- Access to Library and Internet.
- Tea, snacks, and lunch on all working days. Packed lunch during field visits.
Note: Interns must arrange their own accommodation and local transport in Delhi.
