The scholarship is available for the following programs abroad:

Number of Scholarships

Every year, 20 scholarships are awarded under this scheme:

  • 17 scholarships are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
  • 3 scholarships are specially reserved for students belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

This ensures that even the most marginalized tribal students have a chance to benefit from world-class education.

Family Income Criteria

To be eligible, the total annual income of the applicant’s family from all sources should not exceed Rs. 6 lakhs per annum. This ensures that the benefits reach truly deserving candidates from economically weaker sections of tribal society.

Admission Flexibility

Selected students are given up to 2 years after their selection to secure admission to a foreign university. This allows them ample time to find the right course and institution abroad.

Mode of Disbursement

The scholarship amount is disbursed through Indian Missions abroad (such as Indian Embassies) with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs, and later reimbursed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
