JBNSTS Talent Search Exam 2025: The Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) is a very well-known and respected scholarship exam held in West Bengal. Junior Talent Search Test (JTST) Details
This exam is for students who passed Class X in 2025 with at least 75% marks and are now studying in Class XI in the science stream. They must have at least three science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or Electronics. The exam will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM, and students have to reach the exam center by 11:30 AM.
This exam is for a total of 90 marks, divided equally among three subjects – Physical Science, Life Science, and Mathematics. Students have to answer all the questions as there are no optional ones.
Senior Talent Search Test (STST) Details
This exam is meant for students who passed or appeared in their Class XII Board Exams in 2025, and who are now studying or planning to study Science Honours, Engineering, Medical, or BS-MS courses in West Bengal. The exam will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and students should report by 9:30 AM.
This exam has a total of 100 marks, divided into two sections. In Section A, students have to answer 5 out of 8 questions from any 3 subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Each question carries 5 marks, and this part totals 75 marks.
In Section B, there is one descriptive question for 25 marks from one subject, and students can choose one question out of four. So the total marks become 100, and the exam lasts for three hours.

JBNSTS Talent Search Exam Pattern and Style
The JBNSTS exam is not like multiple-choice questions (MCQ) exams. It is written and descriptive, where students need to explain their answers in detail. Scholarships and Benefits
If a student is selected as a Junior Scholar, they will get ₹1250 per month for two years along with an annual book grant of ₹2500. Along with this, students will get a certificate and be invited to join science workshops, seminars, research camps, and other interesting programs that help improve their knowledge and experience.
For students selected as Senior Scholars, the reward is much bigger. They will get ₹4000 per month for up to 5 years (depending on their course) and a book grant of ₹5000 every year. The top 10 boys and top 10 girls will also get laptops as prizes.
