The Main Objective of the BASE Platform
The main goal of the BASE platform is to make Aadhaar seeding and related services easy, fast, and accessible to citizens in digital mode. This ensures that people can seamlessly manage their Aadhaar-bank account linkage, which is essential for receiving Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) without delays.
Currently, the Aadhaar seeding process is primarily carried out using physical request forms and a semi-automated system. To enable Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) beneficiaries to manage the seeding process seamlessly and remain in control of the bank account to which benefits will flow, NPCI has launched the BASE platform.
The BASE platform acts as an interface between the various channels used for raising Aadhaar seeding requests, the NPCI mapper, and the banks.
Definitions:
- Aadhaar Linking: Linking an Aadhaar number to a bank account number. Customers can link their Aadhaar to multiple bank accounts.
- Aadhaar Seeding: The process by which the bank updates the Aadhaar number in the NPCI mapper. Seeding is carried out only with the express consent (written or electronic) of the customer.
