The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially invited applications from eligible Indian students for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2026-27. What is the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme?
As per the Educational Exchange Programme Agreement between the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary and the Ministry of Education, Government of India, Hungary has offered 200 scholarships for Indian students across various levels of study. These include:
- Undergraduate (UG): 50 scholarships
- Postgraduate (PG): 75 scholarships
- Doctoral (PhD): 30 scholarships
- Interpreter, Translator & Literary Translator Studies: 5 scholarships
- Postgraduate Courses & Research (Part-Time): 40 scholarships
All programmes will be full-time, with part-time options available only for specific postgraduate research courses.

Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- Born on or before 31st August 2008.
- Secured at least 60% marks in the last qualifying examination.
- Completed their last study programme from a recognized Indian educational institution.
- Applied online to the Tempus Public Foundation portal.
Note: Previous Stipendium Hungaricum scholars may reapply for a different or higher level of study.
