NIB Notification Selection Process 2026

The selection process for Junior Scientist, Laboratory Technician & Other posts will be conducted in multiple stages. Below is the detailed selection procedure:

Scientist Grade-II & Grade-III: The selection procedure includes two stages – (1) Computer Based Test (CBT) with objective-type questions, where candidates must secure at least 60% marks to qualify, and (2) Personal Discussion. Candidates are shortlisted for the discussion round in a 1:10 ratio based on merit. The final selection is calculated using CBT score (40% weightage), evaluation of credentials (30%), and Personal Discussion (30%).
Junior Scientist & Laboratory Technician: Candidates are selected through a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of objective-type questions. The minimum qualifying marks are 50% for General/EWS/OBC categories and 40% for SC/ST candidates. The final merit list will be prepared based solely on CBT marks.
Administrative Assistant & Assistant-II: The recruitment process involves two stages – (1) Computer Based Test (CBT) with objective questions, requiring 60% qualifying marks, followed by (2) Skill Test (Typing Test). Candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test in a 1:5 ratio based on CBT merit.
Junior Hindi Translator: The selection consists of two examination papers: Paper-I, a Computer Based Test with objective questions, which is qualifying in nature with minimum 50% marks required. Paper-II is a descriptive test covering translation, precis writing, and essay writing. The final merit list will be determined based on the marks obtained in Paper-II.

General Examination Details

  • Negative Marking: In the Computer Based Test (CBT), 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer for most of the posts.
  • Skill Test: For the posts of Administrative Assistant and Assistant-II, the skill/typing test is only qualifying in nature and its marks will not be considered for the final merit list.
