Indian Overseas Bank LBO Exam Pattern 2025: The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has officially announced the recruitment of 400 Local Bank Officers (LBOs) across various states. If you’re planning to apply, it’s very important to understand how the exam will be conducted and where it will take place.
In this article, we will explain the IOB LBO Exam Pattern and the list of exam centers, so that you can prepare yourself without confusion or stress.

Indian Overseas Bank LBO Exam Pattern
The first step in the IOB LBO selection process is an online exam. This test will check your abilities in various subjects like reasoning, English, computer knowledge, data interpretation, and general awareness about the economy and banking.
Structure of the Exam
| Section | Number of Questions | Maximum Marks | Medium | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning & Computer Aptitude | 30 | 60 | English & Hindi | 60 minutes |
| General/Economy/Banking Awareness | 40 | 40 | English & Hindi | 30 minutes |
| Data Analysis & Interpretation | 30 | 60 | English & Hindi | 60 minutes |
| English Language | 40 | 40 | English | 30 minutes |
Each section has a separate time limit, which means you can’t switch between sections during the exam. You have to complete one section in its given time before moving to the next.
So, time management becomes very important.
Sectional Cut-Offs (Qualifying Marks)
To pass the online exam, you must score minimum marks in each section:
- Reserved Category Candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) – Minimum 30% in each section
- Unreserved Category (General/EWS) – Minimum 35% in each section
If you fail to get these minimum marks in even one section, you will not qualify for the next round.
Negative Marking for Wrong Answers
There is a penalty for wrong answers.
- For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks (1/4th of the marks assigned to that question) will be deducted.
- No marks are deducted for questions that are left unanswered.
So, it’s better to skip a question if you’re unsure rather than guess blindly.
Medium of Exam
- Most sections will be available in both English and Hindi.
- The English Language section will only be in English.
Choose your language carefully when taking the test.
